The 2025 Pokémon World Championships just wrapped up — and it was packed with announcements that left fans worldwide buzzing. From brand-new games to epic returns, here’s everything you need to know (and why you should be excited 👀).
🎮 Pokémon Champions
Pokémon’s next era is here. The brand-new title, Pokémon Champions, is officially coming to Switch and mobile in 2026. Not only that — it’s set to replace Scarlet and Violet as the main Championship Series game. Big battles, bigger stakes.
⚔️ Pokémon Unite
Unite fans, it’s time to shake up the battlefield:
- Empoleon splashes in September 19
- Dhelmise and Vaporeon are on deck
- And the biggest twist? Groudon storms into Theia Sky Ruins on September 4, taking Rayquaza’s spot and bringing game-changing buffs if your team takes it down.
🃏 Pokémon TCG + TCG Pocket
Card trainers, this is huge: Mega Evolution arrives in TCG Pocket this fall, with powerhouses like Mega Altaria, Mega Gyarados, and Mega Blaziken.
That’s not all — new cards include Mega Charizard X ex, Mega Gardevoir ex, Mega Lucario ex, and Oricorio ex. And yes, they teased a Mega Dragonite ex card 👀.
📱 Pokémon GO
Pokémon GO fans were treated too:
- The legendary Eternamax Eternatus finally made its global debut
- The Dark Skies event runs August 18–23
- And don’t miss the Max Finale (Aug 23–25), where trainers can catch all Dynamax and Gigantamax Pokémon — plus Eternatus itself.
🕹 Pokémon Legends: Z-A
Competitive play just leveled up. 4-player Ranked Battles are coming, letting you fight in real time with friends (or rivals) both locally and online. Expect explosive combos with massive moves like Draco Meteor shaking the field.
📍 2026 Championships
Mark your calendars — the next Championship Sunday lands at the Chase Center in San Francisco in 2026, with room for more than 18,000 fans.
One thing’s clear: Pokémon’s future is stacked, and trainers everywhere have a lot to look forward to.
